Community Service

Singapore Management University (SMU) has a policy that requires the students to commit 80 hours to community service as a graduating requirement. Personally, I would like to be a part of community service projects (CSPs) where I could contribute my most through the skills that I possess rather than doing the simple tasks anyone could accomplish.

Thus I chose to work with “Singapore Childrens’ Societys’ Research & Out-reach Centre” trying to help them with their ‘IT-related issues’, something I can claim to be useful at.

I also participated in a CSP named StarringSMU. If I had known about it earlier I’d have probably taken part in planning it, that would’ve been fun. I took this one up specifically to get to know the freshmen and the juniors better. If I get the chance, I’d definitely love to be a part of the group organising a CSP.

Personally I’ve enjoyed community service so far that I guess I’ll end up doing more than just 80 hours …

Servingly yours,
Ankit.G
