The People

Giorgos CheliotisGiorgos Cheliotis – was a professor at Singapore Management University from late 2006 till mid 2008 during which time I was a research assistant to him on a project named “CC-Monitor” which looked at usage of various Creative Commons licenses. Giorgos has a genuine interest in the research and was great to work with. He is both a mentor and a friend.

Michael Boman – was an IT Security Research and Developer, who worked at Standard Chartered Bank, Innovation Lab @ SMU. I worked with Michael on various project through the I-lab. He was really nice to work with, helpful at every step. It was nice to have someone knowledgeable to “techno-babble” with. He moved to Sweden in early 2008.

Philip CaunePhilip Talis Caune – Was a masters’ student from Germany, who was working on his project / thesis at SMU during the summer of 2007. Philip was my swimming buddy and I tried to help with the coding for his master’s project a bit. He went back to Germany where he’s got a nice job.

ClintClint (Mark) Gono
– The accomplice. I worked with him to create the Open House video for 2005 (now hosted on the university website). I later participated in the code::XtremeApps:: competition with him (and Aaron) and then recruited him to the on-going research project [CC-Monitor] as a research-assistant to lend me a hand. We later also worked together on a Business Venture – Crossroads, the brain child of a common friend, Andre.

KiveliProf. Kiveli Filmeridis – now retired, she used to teach Psychology at SMU and I sat-in in two of her courses – Introduction to Psychology and Cultural Psychology. I believe that I learnt the most out of these two courses of all that I sat-in for. It was a great experience to learn such a fascinating subject from such an excellent teacher. Her absence will be felt and it will make it harder for me to choose which other courses to sit-in for.

Kenneth Huang

Prof. Kenneth Huang - is a Research Associate at the Sloan School on Management, MIT and an assistant professor at SMU. I am presently working with him on data regarding cross-jurisdiction patenting. We are working on patents from US and China (primarily focusing on High-tech patents) and trying to measure the impact of cross-jurisdictional patenting.
